Gambling and Sports always go hand in hand. Several
sportspersons are always surrounded by gambling
controversy. The case is no different regarding Phil
Mickelson. Phil Mickelson has been alleged of being
involved in gambling from a long time.

 Phil Mickelson and Gambling

Phil Mickelson is a golf star. He is a big name in the
world of golf with a great track record. He started
playing golf at a very young age. He is said to have
held the golf stick and swing it since he was one and a
half years of age. It is said that Mickelson is born
just to play golf. Mickelson continues to play the game
at the very best level and has set very high standards
which only a few can achieve. He is one of only a
handful of players to capture more than twenty Tour
victories. His achievements include the 2004 Masters and
2005 PGA Championship, and play on 5 Ryder Cup and 6
Presidents Cup teams. It was also reported that
according to tour spokesperson Bob Combs Mickelson and
his victim, Mike Weir, committed a "technical violation"
of tour regulations. According to golf regulations a
player is prohibited from placing bets on a golf
tournament. Golf magazines have also reported as to why
Phil Mickelson does not play well in the British Open,
which suggests his involvement in gambling.

Phil Mickelson has said to have broken the rules of PGA
which clearly mentions that a player cannot and must not
intend to have any financial interest, either direct or
indirect, in the performance or the winnings of another
player. He must not gamble and have the urge of earning
						through purse-splitting, prize money insurance,
financial assistance, and bets or otherwise. According
to reports though Mickelson did not compromise on the
integrity of the game he did gamble on the game which is
						a technical violation.

 Phil Mickelson
had also been accused of being involved in gambling when
he predicted on his that the Baltimore Ravens would win
the Super Bowl. This was mentioned on his website which
sparked the gambling controversy. According to the Las
Vegas Review-Journal, Mickelson earned $560,000. He had
placed a bet with 28-1 odds.

Thus this suggests the connection between sports and
gambling. There has also been a strange co-incidence
where the top players have been allegedly involved in
						gambling.
