						Songs About Gambling

As if gambling were not enough of a
headache for parents and the affected kin of the
compulsive gambler, the Internet has added to their
misery by providing an opportunity for gambling
establishments to bring the speculation into the
household. The bright side is that the gamblers wives
and children get to see more of him at least even if
they don’t get to speak. Gambling has affected the lives
of almost everyone at some point in time. It has
produced more woe than joy. The effects of gambling have
been felt so far and wide that, many entertainers have
written songs on this form of entertainment and in some
						cases, profession.

Many a song on gambling has been composed and sung by
singers the world over. Both renowned singers like Kenny
Rogers, Cliff Richards, and Elvis Presley as well as
some of the not-so-well-known ones have, through the
lyrics of their music, made the woes of the game known
to the world. All songs are not about the bad side of
the game though. Some sing about the famous last words
and advise of gamblers while others sing about the brave
men who have gambled their life away for a loved one. We
list below a few of the songs that made their way to
						fame.

Some of the more famous songs:

"The Gambler" by the all time great country singer Kenny
Rogers tells of the gambler he met up with in a train.
The gambler left him with the famous last words; ‘I can
see you’re out of aces by the way you hold your eyes’.
And ‘You got to know when to hold up, know when to fold
up, know when to walk away and know when to run’. A
little introspection into these words say a lot about
how a gambler should make wise decisions. Elvis Presley
sings his all time great “Viva Las Vegas” Elvis sings
about the lights and glamour of Vegas and how it can
turn the nighttime into day and the daytime into night.
He also warns that if you have been there just once you
will never be the same again. An encrypted warning
perhaps. The ‘House of the rising sun” by Bob Dylan is
another of the famous songs on gambling. Other songs are
"Blackjack" by Ray Charles, "The Cincinnati Kid" by Ray
Charles, "Gambler" by Madonna, "Luck Be A Lady" by Frank
Sinatra, "Poker" by Electric Light Orchestra, "Riverboat
Gambler" by Carly Simon and of course "The Winner Takes
						It All" by ABBA.

It is intriguing that gambling looked upon with awe my
many. This is displayed in the fact that even though
singers have been inspired to compose and sing songs
						about this pastime, these
						songs are ever
green, though they have been sung decades ago they are
still popular in today’s modern world.
