Gambling has always been a controversial topic and a
topic of great debate. Gambling has fuelled tremendous
arguments from all the sections of the society. Gambling
has especially been a favourite with numerous famous and
well known personalities. Celebrities from different
field have never been able to distance themselves from
gambling. The case is no different with Pete Rose.

Who is Pete Rose and more about Pete Rose Gambling

Gambling has attracted personalities from all walks of
life. Be it films, television, politics, fashion or
sports, gambling is present is all. Of these, sports are
probably the biggest and the most important gambling
ground all over the world. Sportspersons have always
been under the scanner for their alleged involvement in
sports gambling. No one is surprised when a sportsperson
						is known to gamble.

Pete Rose is one such sportsperson known to be involved
in gambling. Pete Rose is one of the greatest
professional baseball players in the history of the
game. As always the greatest are often the most
controversial too. Rose began playing professionally for
the Cincinnati Reds in 1963. There he also earned the
nickname "Charlie Hustle" for his work ethic and
boundless enthusiasm. He has several achievements to his
name and the most fantastic career record. For this
tremendous track record Rose was guaranteed a spot in
the Hall of Fame until 1989, when he was accused of
betting on baseball. Initially Rose denied these charges
of betting. However the charges were proved and he was
banned from baseball for life. Rose eventually admitted
that he had bet on baseball in his 2004 book, My Prison
						without Bars.

According to Hal McCoy, the hall-of-fame baseball
writer, Pete Rose was not banned from baseball because
he gambled. He was in fact banned from baseball for
betting on baseball. This according to McCoy is a
significant difference. According to McCoy it is against
baseball rules to bet on baseball and the punishment for
betting on your own team is that of being permanently
banned from playing in the team and from baseball
itself. But the Ohio Lottery and casinos are legal.

 Conclusion

 The Pete Rose
betting controversy was an extremely sensational issue.
It had gain wide recognition and sharp reviews from all
classes of people. This explains the shadowy presence of
gambling or betting in the field of sports.
