 Gambling has existed as
a form of entertainment probably for as long as man has
lived on this planet. Forms of gambling can be traced
back to every civilization, religion and culture.
Research shows that various forms of gambling have
existed in the greatest of societies. Even in the
Pyramid of Egypt writings gambling were discovered. Way
back in the 14th century archeologists discovered signs
that gambling was banned from certain civilizations.
King Henry VIII banned gambling from his kingdom even
though he was a compulsive gambler himself having lost
the church bell of London in a wager. Another story
doing the rounds is about Emperor Claudius who had his
chariot specially designed to be able to play dice while
						he was traveling.

 Cards:
Card games such as Blackjack and Poker are believed to
have originated from shuffling paper money in ancient
China. This popular card game traveled to Europe, Italy
and Spain via the Mameluke Empire. People started to
make drawings on the cards from members of the Royal
Court, like the Jack and the King. It is believed that
the queen was introduced to the pack of cards in 1500.

 Dice:
Proof of the existence of all sorts of dice games has
been found dating back 2,000 years. One of the most
popular games of dice is Craps. The original name of
Craps was 'Hazard'. It is mostly played by the English
elite and members of high society of the 18th and 19th
century. England brought the game into France and the
French decided to call it Craps, from the word ‘crabs’
						which means 'pair of ones'.

 Roulette:
The history of Roulette is very interesting. "Roulette"
is a French word meaning 'small wheel'. In 1842 Francois
and Louis Blanc invented the 'Single 0' roulette game.
When this game traveled to the US, the Americans added
the 'Double 0' to the wheel to increase the winning odds
of the house. This game is now known as American
						Roulette.

 Gambling Sport:
The Romans were known for gambling on games in the
Circus Maximus. Caesar started the hundred day games,
which included gladiator fights and races among a host
of other games that the Romans bet on mainly for
entertainment instead of for financial gains. It is
believed that Julius Caesar and his friend Marc Antony
betted on rooster fights in their free time.

No matter what the nature of the gamble. It is hard to
say which is the most popular of the gambling sports. A
gambler will happily gamble on anything that will give
him a thrill or show some sign of winning. But to make
an analysis, card games and sport have been known to top
						the list of popular
						gambling games.
