						Long
						Term Trends In Gambling
						Over the next coming years
technological change is likely to lead to the
introduction of new forms of gambling. There will be
even greater access to gambling products. How
governments will respond to these new gambling products
is a fact not known. There are some laws and
prohibitions bills which prohibits the provision of some
interactive gambling services, signals the intention of
the Government to stop some forms of internet gambling.
It is not clear that even if new products are introduced
to the market, these will have a significant impact on
government revenue. Gambling expenditure as a share of
household expenditure has remained relatively constant
						since past few years.
 Potential hazards in future

After surveying middle and high school youth in North
America, twenty independent prevalence studies were
						published which demonstrated the
						long term trends
in gambling. These studies suggest that within the
past year two out of three legally underage youth have
gambled for money. As many as 15.3 million 12-17 year
olds have been gambling in the United States and Canada.
They might do not have or may be having adult awareness
or approval. Around 2.2 million of these underage youths
are having serious gambling-related problems. Lottery
play is most popular form of gambling among youth in
both the United States and Canada. It is one of the
legalized forms of gambling. It is indicative that there
is a substantial increase in the proportion of young who
report gambling within the past year is visible in
trends during 1984-1999. There is also a parallel
increase in the proportion of youth reporting serious
gambling-related problems. Even then, there is very
little public awareness and concern about the extent of
juvenile gambling. Society is not considering the
potential hazards associated with underage youth
gambling. There is a stark contrast between the
composite profile of juveniles reporting numerous
gambling problems and their peers who reported few or
						none.

 Conclusion

There is a rapid increase and Growth in State gambling
revenue over the last two decades. This has been driven
by increased consumer expenditure. This has resulted
from much greater access to gambling opportunities.
Gaming machines are available in most hotels and clubs
throughout the country. This due to the expansion in the
number of gaming machine licenses. Now the consumers no
longer have to leave home to gamble, thanks to the
advent of interactive gambling products such as internet
						sports betting and telephone betting.
