Pennsylvania Slots StalledAs reported by the Pennsylvania Patriot News: "Pennsylvania's road to casino gambling remains blocked over how to get slot machines into 14 casinos in the state.
"Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board members failed again to pass rules governing the licensing and operation of in-state slot-machine supply houses yesterday. Those supply houses, by law, must be licensed before casinos. "The board voted 6-1 in favor of a plan to split the state into two regions. The plan is a compromise to accommodate those who claim that having more regions would create jobs and benefit small businesses or those run by women and minorities. "But the plan sunk because major decisions need approval from all four legislative caucus appointees, and the negative vote was cast by Commissioner Ken McCabe, who represents Senate Republican leaders. "…The state's gambling expansion law requires licenses for suppliers to be issued 90 days before any casino licenses are granted. But the board hasn't been able to take applications from would-be suppliers yet…"
