Malta Lottery CEO Responds to Article As reported by the Malta Independent: "People are not gambling more than Lm2 per week, even when the jackpots are huge, Maltco CEO John Katakis told The Malta Independent. "Mr Katakis was replying to an article in this newspaper's sister, The Malta Independent on Sunday, written by columnist Alfred Mifsud. "Mr Mifsud wrote on Sunday that people were not buying staple goods, including food, but instead preferred to spend more on Super Five tickets, especially when it is a large jackpot, as was the case last week. "Dr Katakis said Maltco figures show that it is not that people spend more, but that more people tend to try their luck when there is a large jackpot.
