Greektown Opens New Garage In celebration of its fifth anniversary today, Greektown Casino is opening a new 630-space valet parking garage, improving valet parking service at Detroit's "Best Casino." The new eight-story garage, at Beaubien and Fort, is designed to shorten the time guests will have to wait to valet park and retrieve their vehicles, said Greektown Casino Chief Executive Officer Craig Ghelfi. "As we move toward building our permanent casino and eventually opening a 3,500-space attached parking garage, the valet garage will make it more convenient for Greektown Casino guests who choose to valet their vehicles," Ghelfi said. "Once both garages are open, Greektown Casino will lead the market in parking options and convenience." The valet garage was built by Jenkins/Skanska, a joint venture of two accomplished, full-service Michigan construction firms. Jenkins/Skanska will also be the program/construction managers for the permanent Greektown Casino development. Greektown is working with the Michigan Gaming Control Board to finalize plans for its permanent casino, which will include a 400-room hotel at Monroe and I-375 and the new attached parking garage at the northeast corner of Monroe and St. Antoine. Located at 555 E. Lafayette Avenue in Detroit's Greektown Entertainment District, Greektown Casino features nearly 2,400 slot machines and 101 table games in 75,000 square feet of luxurious Mediterranean-themed gaming space. Greektown Casino continues to set the gaming standard in Michigan and remains the industry's leader in implementing technology to improve guest service. Greektown is home to the city's first and largest live poker room, and was the first Detroit casino to implement coinless slot machines and Ticket-in, Ticket-out redemption stations -- keeping the casino on the cutting edge of gaming entertainment and customer service technologies. |
