Survey: Filipinos Believe Arroyo Linked to Jueteng As reported by the Manila Sun Star: "Eight in 10 Filipinos believe that some members of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo's family are involved in and benefit from jueteng operations, a July 2 to 14 survey of Pulse Asia showed.
"The survey, which had 1,200 respondents, showed that 81 percent of Filipinos believe the allegation of jueteng involvement among some of Arroyo's family members. Only 16 percent believe otherwise. "The figure is three percentage points more than the 78 percent of believers in June. "Most of the believers are from Metro Manila and Mindanao (87 percent each), followed by Luzon (84 percent). Only 62 percent from the Visayas - where Arroyo had the widest support - believe in the allegations. "…About 71 percent believe the allegations to be true, a seven percent increase from the 64 percent in June. "…For 54 percent of Filipinos, the legalization of jueteng would only make things worse for the country…"
