California Tribal Casino Plans OpposedAs reported by the Sacramento News 10: "An Indian tribe wants to build what would be Amador County's second Indian casino, but opponents are lining up against it.
"The Buena Vista band of Me-wuk Indians proposes building the Flying Cloud Casino on a parcel of land on Coal Mine Road near the tiny town of Buena Vista, which is west of Jackson. Their proposal calls for a two-story casino with 2,000 slot machines and 80 gaming tables. Casino customers would park in a nine-story garage. "Many residents of the tiny town of Buena Vista believe the influx of casino guests would bring traffic and crime to their community. One of them is Teryn Boitano. She wonders how the country roads will handles what could thousands of additional vehicles each day. "The tribal members, who live in Sacramento, are represented by a Sacramento public relations firm. That firm is reminding residents that California voters gave approval in 1998 for tribes to build casinos with Proposition 5…"
