That ticket, which was purchased in California, matched all six numbers to win a jackpot estimated at $88 million. The winning numbers were 14-20-25-40-44 and the Mega Ball number was 37. But that certainly wasn't the only winner in the Friday, December 30, 2005 drawing. A total of 588,375 tickets won Mega Millions prizes. Seven tickets came within just one number of winning it all. Each of them matched the first five numbers and only missed the Mega Ball number. Those tickets were purchased in California (1), Georgia (2), Massachusetts (1), New Jersey (2), and Ohio (1). The jackpot for the Tuesday, January 3, 2006 Mega Millions drawing is $12 million.
