California Denies Casino Plans As reported by the Marin Independent Journal: "The Indian tribe that owns the River Rock Casino in Healdsburg has quietly purchased 161 acres along Highway 101 just north of the Marin County line in Sonoma County, and officials in both counties fear the tribe will attempt to build a casino there.
"The leader of the Dry Creek Rancheria band of Pomo Indians said his tribe has no immediate plans for a casino, and instead will convert the property into a vineyard that will produce wine for the River Rock Casino. "The leader of another tribe, the Graton Rancheria, which plans a casino in Rohnert Park, warned that if the Dry Creek Rancheria makes a step to construct a casino on the property, 'we will bounce them out' as an example 'of (an) egregious form of reservation-shopping.'
