GSA Reveals New Protocol Name Integrating protocols to create a single industry solution, the Gaming Standards Association today announced the new name of the combined Best of Breed (BOB) Version 1.1 and IGT's SuperSAS(TM) protocols. The new protocol will be known as the Game-to-System, or G2S, protocol. The name was chosen to give an accurate description of the protocol, bringing clarity to the industry as to what the protocol encompasses. Engineers have been working steadily over the past few months to combine the best elements of the BOB and SuperSAS protocols to create G2S, and the new combined protocol is expected to be released in April 2006 as a single industry solution. Operators are embracing the idea of the combined protocol. Lyle Bell, Senior VP of IT with the Seminole Tribe of Florida and Chairman of GSA, said, "The combined protocol really is the best of both worlds, and is better than either protocol alone. It's flexible, efficient, and brings the casino floor of the future to life today." John Boushy, SVP for Harrah's Entertainment and GSA Secretary, said, "G2S is a tremendous step forward for the industry because G2S moves the industry forward in the same direction, not divided between protocols with separate potentials. Hopefully this will result in more rapid innovation, lower R&D costs for suppliers, improved regulatory approval times, and more choice for casino operators." |
