Texas Holdem Rules

Texas holdem rules might be simple, but the strategy behind them gets very complicated. Knowing the rules is only the first step in becoming a good holdem player. You are going to have to learn to analyze the game, the cards and your opponents; otherwise you will lose.

Texas holdem rules begin with the cards being dealt. Each player, up to eight players, is going to get two cards. These are your hole cards. Then, after a round of betting, the flop is going to take place. This is where the dealer puts three cards face up on the table. They are community cards for every player to use.

You will bet again then the dealer will flip a fourth card. All the cards in the middle are for every player to use. Once more, you will bet and the dealer will turn over the final card, called the river. You all now have the option between seven cards, but the best five win. Each player has the opportunity to drop, call or raise at any point. Find out the raising limits before you sit down at a table.

The way you ante is to use the blinds system. The people to the left of the dealer will have to ante large or small blinds. This is how you keep people in and make sure that there is money in the pot. But, when you are not a blind, you then get to see your hole cards for free.
