As reported by the New Jersey Express-Times: “Borough council on Monday
night decided it will remain neutral on the issue of whether a casino should
be built in neighboring Bethlehem. “Council unanimously approved a motion to
steer clear of an opinion on the matter. The motion also calls for officials
to be proactive in minimizing the effects a casino would have on the
borough. “Monday night’s decision contradicts an earlier proposal calling
for the borough’s opposition to a casino in Bethlehem. That motion cited
problems a casino could bring, such as a staggering increase in traffic and
a need for the borough to hire additional police, ambulance and fire crews.”
