Bally’s Bumps Borgata from Top Spot

As reported by the Philadelphia Inquirer: “For the first time since it
debuted nearly three years ago, the Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa was not
Atlantic City’s top-grossing casino. Bally’s Atlantic City casino toppled
the Borgata from the top spot last month. “The Jersey Shore resort’s 12
casinos generated $440.2 million in revenue in April, up 4 percent from the
same month last year, data released yesterday by the New Jersey Casino
Control Commission showed.

“.Bally’s generated $59.1 million in total revenue, up 9.7 percent from
April 2005. The Borgata finished with $58.5 million, down 3 percent. Trump
Taj Mahal rounded out the top three with $48.5 million, up 13.2 percent.

“John Payne, who oversees Harrah’s Entertainment Inc.’s four properties in
Atlantic City, said April was the first month in which the company’s Total
Rewards customer-loyalty program was available at all of Harrah’s casinos,
including Bally’s.

“.Dan Heneghan, spokesman for the casino commission, which regulates
Atlantic City’s casinos, said this was the first time that the Borgata had a
year-over-year decline in total monthly revenue since it opened in July
2003.”
