Online Gambling

An overview on online
gambling:
As with the problem of
any other addiction the addiction of online gambling is
also similar. One never gets to know unless he under
goes some sort of major loss. Even though there are
strict laws in the United States of America that
prohibits online gambling but most of them are proving
to be as deterrent as the prohibition of drinking in the
1920’s. Studies have found out that at least 80% of the
total online gambling done on the United States of
America is illegal. One reason that the law enforcement
authorities can not much more is that most of the online
casinos and betting exchanges have set up their head
quarters in countries like Britain, Australia and Costa
Rica where online gambling is legalized. The authorities
can only take action if one such person owning an online
casino travels to U.S. soil, operates through a U.S bank
and or sets up office inside the territory of America.
From an insight the concept of online gambling may
appear to be too much easy as it does not involves the
time consuming efforts of traveling to a casino. And
also the internet is making the problem much worst with
its accessibility and increased ability to hide this
problem behavior.
Possible dangers of
online gambling:
Our present era is
marked by the internet and the recent trend that has
been in the gambling world is occurring on the internet.
The popularity of online gambling is also skyrocketing
but the only thing that surrounds its legality is
ambiguity. However almost any one of us will probably
imagine Las Vegas casinos, riverboat casinos and many
more but there are obviously certain risks associated
with online gambling. Some of the basic and fundamental
dangers of gambling through the internet may be listed
as the potentiality of fraud over the internet, the
children access to the gambling sites, an increase in
the number of online gambling addicts and finally the
need to protect and preserve the state revenues
generated through legally enforced gambling operations.
Considering these major factors most of the states
within U.S.A have taken action to prohibit online
gambling through different measures.
