An organization that represents the nine American Indian tribes in South Dakota and one tribe each in North Dakota and Nebraska will meet in Pierre today on a plan to form a tribal gambling group. Some tribal officials are unhappy with Governor Rounds in their dealings to re-negotiate gambling compacts. They say the governor is refusing to allow them to expand their casinos. The tribal officials say they should get the same opportunities as other gambling sectors in South Dakota. They say the number of video lottery machines in the state has increased by 6,100 since 1990, and Deadwood has gained 2,100 slots in the same period, but there has been no increase in slot machines allowed in tribal casinos.
