As reported by the Bay City Times: “Prosecutors have chosen not to charge a Huron County commissioner with a crime for allegedly frequenting what police call a mini-casino here. “Huron County Prosecutor Mark J. Gaertner also declined to charge the 72-year-old owner of the home along M-25 where Michigan State Police allege the county commissioner and others played slot machines. “‘This is not a gambling den in the sense of a gambling operation in the big city,’ Gaertner said. ‘This was a 72-year-old man who had friends and neighbors over to play the slot machines.” ‘There were no large sums of money exchanging hands, and any winnings that were made were either given back to patrons or were donated to various community charities.’.”
