lovers closely follow different events and tournaments
associated with poker. Any news about poker is widely
read and discussed between all levels of gamblers.
Normally, newspaper and national media don’t release any
news about gambling. It is the Internet that informs
poker lovers about different news and events happening
in the Las Vegas and other popular gambling
destinations.
Internet Gives Poker News
There are several websites that give different news
about the poker world. Similarly, there are forums and
other message boards chatting on which players can gain
much information about different happenings in the poker
world. The news about poker can be broadly classified in
following categories:

Tournament:
Any news about any poker tournament is most awaited and
widely read. Tournament news generally contains all the
details about the venue, participation regulation and
who is organizing the event, games to be played, the
date and the prize money. Similarly participation of a
celebrity or any other big shot in the tournament can
also make news.
2. Crime:
Poker and crime has a long and in famous associations.
At times it happens that a poker room is being looted or
there was a fight or murder over the poker table. Such
incidents make hot news in the poker world. Similarly,
with the advent of online poker there is raising number
of frauds happening in the poker world. Special news are
released cautioning people form playing over a certain
website.
3. Opening
of New Casino:
A very popular news item in poker world. Normally every
month there is one or other casino that is opening in
some corner of the world may it be a land based casino
or boat casino. As a publicity stunt these casino owners
make news.
4. New
Game:
Not being a news item but if a new game is introduced to
make it popular it is promoted as a news item. The news
contains detailed information about the game, rule and
how it played.
Generally poker news are not like regular news items.
They are generally meant for informing the poker lovers
with the latest happenings in the poker world. Normally
these news are more commercialized and are used a
publicity tool.
