About gambling in sports:
Over the ages man has been gambling in one form or the
other and history has bear evidences of this fact.
However the concept of gambling in sports or sport
betting, which it is popularly known as is recent and
newly developed. More over with the advent and
accessibility of internet the popularity of gambling in
sports has reached to the point of skyrocketing. One can
almost bet on any sport that the sport book with which
they are gambling with provides. Most commonly in the
United States the Sport covers professional and college
football or basketball, professional baseball,
professional hockey and racing events including horse
and dog racing. Also many of the sport books also offer
propositional bets on golf tournaments very often.
Where to gamble legally:
It
has been found out that in the United States of America
mainly four ways of
gambling in sports are predominant excluding the
various forms of racing including animal racing. Out of
these four ways only two are legal. The Nevada Sport
Books are licensed and anyone can bet on any sport over
there legally. There bookies virtually in every town
where bets are accepted illegally. Not only the bookies
but betting with offshore or international sport books
are also raising within the gambling world in United
States even though the legality of most of these
gambling exchanges may be best termed as ambiguous.
However some of the offshore books that are run by old
trustworthy firms can be assured of their services but
most of them are of the fly by night scam sorts.
Legality of sport gambling:
Some say that it’s against the law to wager over then
internet or the telephone, while others say that the
operation of gambling itself on the U.S. soil is
illegal, which accounts for the fact that most of the
Web sites operate offshore in the places like the
Caribbean, Latin America, Australia and Europe. However
in terms of legislation and law enforcement within the
United States territory the law does not specifically
forbids or it is not written anywhere that gambling is
prohibited and hence the gambling industry is called as
the lawyers dream as there is no clarity on the law.
