History of Gambling
Gambling is an activity where you invest your money
depending upon contingencies of certain event. Gambling
is a common term that refers various games. It is
actually game of luck. But there are some card games and
a dice game which also depends on player’s skill. Each
gambling game has their own distinct history, but they
are somewhere inter-related. This is an activity which
was adopted by every level of people in a society from
time immemorial.
Gambling begins with civilization. History confirmed
that gambling existed in ancient Egypt. Many Egyptian
Kings used to gamble in ancient regime. In ancient
Greece people used gambling with dice rolling and cock
fighting. Though in that era gambling was not considered
as a moral activity but people never hesitated to
gamble. According to some historian Roman citizen was
addicted with gambling in a bad way. Slowly gambling
activity became spread in Africa, North America and
European countries.
Card gambling is the popular gambling game which was
first introduced by Chinese. After the invention of
gambling card, other forms of table games were developed
with time in different places. In fourteenth century
card playing was introduced into Europe and its spread
through Italy, Spain, England and France. Charles VI and
Henry IV were the two gambling enthusiast kings who made
gambling popular in Europe. Standard 52-deck card was
first developed in France which is indispensable for
card gambling. France had another achievement of
gambling as it invented “Blackjack” in 18th
century.
Americans, the most gambling crazy people were learned
all the gambling games that were invented in other
countries and gave them a new direction. They
introduced casino which is a facility where accommodates
certain types gambling activity. American govt.
legalized certain forms of gambling activity and people
were become free to gamble in casino. Blackjack, poker,
baccarat and other forms of card games were become
introduced in casino.
In
twentieth century several innovation was made on
gambling game and some modern forms of gambling activity
developed due to demand of public. Slot machine a type
of gambling machine was introduced in American casino.
This gambling machine gains extreme popularity in US and
rest of the world.
Apart from these card
gambling, other forms of gambling also subsequently
developed with time. Horse racing is a popular form of
gambling which is famous everywhere. Wagering on money
in horse racing was also an old gambling activity.
Lottery is another form of gambling game which have been
playing sine eighteen century. Today wagering on various
sports is become a common gambling activity.
Due to invent of Internet, another form of gambling
activity is recently developed which is called online
gambling. In online gambling, you can play any card game
or betting on any sports from your PC online through
Internet. This gambling made its entry on 1990, but its
make revolution in
history of gambling.
