Poker stud
Stud poker refers to any of a number of poker
game variants in which each player receives a mix of
face-down and face-up cards dealt in multiple
betting rounds. Stud poker games are also typically
non-positional games, meaning that the player who bets
first in each betting round may change from round to
round. There are basically two type’s poker stud game,
namely, five card stud and seven card stud.
Five-card stud:
During the American Civil War the five card stud game
first played and after that it became popular. There is
four or fewer betting round in a poker stud. Five-card
stud poker play well with any structure, and are
especially well suited to no limit and pot limit play.
Seven- card stud:
In
recent times the most popular stud poker is the seven-
card poker. The whole stud poker game is basically
depends upon on the seven- card stud and Five-card stud
game. It is the most familiar game both in casino as
well as home.
Common rule:
It
is a common rule in
stud poker games that to name the
betting rounds after the number of cards each player
holds when that betting round begins. So the bet that
occurs when each player has three cards is called third
card or 3rd street, while the bet that occurs
when each player has five cards is 5th
street. The final round, regardless of the number of
betting rounds, is commonly called the river.
Different kinds of Stud:
Apart from the five cards and seven cards stud there are
different forms of stud game are played around the
world. Such as Six – cards stud, razz, Eight-or-better
high-low stud, Mississippi stud, Mexican stud, Blind
stud.
