Teen Gambling Addiction
Gambling is an activity that involves risking of your
money or your valuable on for an outcome of a game, or
event, which is depending on your luck. For many of the
players gambling has become a part of their life and
they do it for fun. They don’t care where their money is
going. They play the Bingo, buy a lottery ticket, bet a
some dollars on a sporting event or drop some coins into
the slot machine. When they have finished with gambling
they start on with some other addiction.
Some of the reasons why teens gamble
-
If they are of gambling type of family
-
Because of problems at home
-
To earn lot of money at young age
-
To be a part of the great entertainment of the
casinos
The other fact is that the government is encouraging
gambling in a legal way. The games like bingo, lottery
and the poker night is gaining importance in a large
way. Though the legal gambling is for the once who are
above the age of 21, the
teens gamble in
the name of their parents. These games are provided in
way where the gambler has all the fun and entertainment.
This is where the young people get started with gambling
and end up in gambling in the biggest casino of the
city.
Many of today’s parents view gambling as a friendly and
social event. They are aware of where their child is and
they think that he will not develop any problem. In some
of the parents, if they know that their child is
gambling they assume that its better for him than he
going out on the street and doing other activities like
drugs, alcohol etc. But many of the studies have shown
that gambling activity is addictive.
The
end of a gambling addicted teen would be through the
habit of stealing the credit cards of their parents and
things from their house, which can lead to crime and
robbery. Researchers at the National Council of problem
gambling suggest that teens that are gambling addicted
have the risk of getting the behavior like unsafe sex,
becoming chain smokers and drinkers and finally ending
up with suicide. There are many ways of getting out of
gambling addiction. The first step to avoid gambling is
to have firm commitment of not gambling again. The
gambling time can be replaced by other leisure activity
and soon you will find the way out.
