What is a charitable gambling?
A lot of people like to gamble for charity. In this
charitable gambling, a large percentage of money and
sometimes whole of the money won by the gamblers are
given in the charity for the religious, social or
educational purposes. Every person cannot conduct the
charitable gambling. a special licence is required to
organize charitable gambling. Licence are generally
given to the
charitable, religious, veterans, or other nonprofit
organizations, if it has at least 15 active members and
has been in existence for at least three years. Lawful
Gambling Control Board regulates charitable gambling,
which is a seven-member organization. It not only
licenses these organizations but also makes rules for
the conduct of gambling. It is a good cause and a lot
of amateur gamblers attend these charitable gambling. In
this way the gambler can have the fun of gambling with
the noble cause of gabling. Anybody can gamble in the
charitable gambling, whenever these institutions invite
charitable gambling.
Rules of charitable gambling
There some rules and regulations fixed by the lawful
gambling control board for the charitable gambling to
prevent the misuse of the charity gambling for the
profit motive. Some of the major rules are that players
must be atleast 18 years old, charitable gambling must
be
supervised by a gambling manager appointed by the
organization. The checks and credit cards cannot be used
in the charitable
gambling. The other important rules include odds and
house rules must be posted on the premise and gambling
workers must be registered with the board and may not
gamble at sites where they are working. The last rule
has some exceptions.
Is
it unethical to raise fund from gambling
There is big debate on the issue whether it is ethical
to raise fund from the gambling or not. The gambling is
considered as a sin in most of the religion of the
world. According to one view it is unethical because you
are encouraging the people to gamble for the sake of
charity. Another view is that the gambling cannot be
regarded as a sin because it is perfectly legal.
According to this view there is no harm in using the
gambling for the charitable purpose, because it is a
noble cause.
