Horse racing is considered as one of the most famous and interesting form of sports betting. The betters take it as the most pleasurable and delightful activity to bet in a horse racing game mainly because of the amount of fun and excitement associated with it and a desire to win something big. During recent years horse racing has transformed into a rich man’s activity with many big names from the world of business and other field placing their bets with some really huge amount of money.

The basics of the horse racing betting  

Placing bets in a horse race is simply to leave behind the “oddsmackers” or in other words the “odd compilers” and then win some money. In addition to this placing a bet one of the most delightful event makes the horse racing exciting and even more enjoyable. Betting in a horse racing is done mainly via two prominent ways namely the sports books (US) and the Bookmakers (UK) entities who accept every type of bets. The betting can be placed on the outcome of the horse races and even in several other sporting events. With all the modern techniques and advanced procedures betting is not at all a big task today. One simply has to go to a sportsbook whether physically or online in order to place a bet. Many of the sportsbooks have even provided the facility of betting over the phone for the convenience of their customers. It’s very important to note here that oddsmackers must not be confused with sportsbooks because there is a huge difference between the two. While a sportsbook simply accepts bet, an oddsmackers is a person who sets the betting odds. The process manly needs to state what the players desire to bet on by simply selecting the type of bet and the amount of money to be wagered. The selection however will depend on the odds offered, hence it will be advisable to properly examine the range of odds available before making a decision.

Types of bets

There are many types of bets that can be placed. The varieties of bets may vary from one sportsbook to the other. The list of betting types used in horse racing and several other sports events is as under:

·         Straight bet or Single or Win bet – The simplest and the most common betting type where the player bets on the winner at given odds. The money can be wined if the selected horse is the first to cross the finish line.

·         Place – The wager in a place is something where one can collect the winning money if his or her horse finishes in first or the second place.

·         Show – The winning can be collected if the selected horse even finishes in the third place.

·         Combination bet – it simply implies covering two to four horses to win in a specific chooses order.
