Pros and Cons of Gambling

The act of winning huge amount of money by keeping some
on stake is called gambling. Playing in casinos,
betting, roulette, blackjack and stock are some forms of
gambling.
Despite the fact that gambling has been practiced since
a long time, it is still till date a very controversial
issue.
Pros of gambling:
Gambling can be made legal by some states and countries.
This would intern help them gain more revenue from
entertainment tax and tourists. Las Vegas is an example
for this. It is earning huge amount of money through
casinos and other gambling acts. This money thus earned
by the state can be used for developing infra-structure
of that state. Sport gambling in the form of betting
creates interest in the involvement of sport. Since is
is non-profitable it is healthy to take risk in such
activities. Online gambling is preferable because you
don’t have to travel long distances for playing the
gambling games. Moreover you do not have to feel
obligated to pay tips as you would in actual casinos and
you will not have to stand the annoyances such as
smokers. In casino gambling you can get encashed
immediately after win. Also you get to see a new place
and meet new people.
Cons of gambling:
Many religions state that
gambling is a
bad act of entertainment because it damages the lives
of many people and the society as a whole. If a gambling
addict is under constant debts his family and social
life is disturbed. This could also lead to nervous
breakdown and the person may feel the need of
psychological counseling. Gambling also increases the
crime rate in a particular state or country. Betting in
sports results in some illegal activities like fixes,
intentional injury etc. it results in addiction and
false hopes. One of the problems in online gambling is
that you have to wait for a long time for your cash to
be transferred to your account. Moreover you have to
disclose your identity, your phone number, address,
credit card number etc. In online gambling. This could
be sometimes misused. Also due to inline gambling your
computer may catch some virus which may result in a
computer ‘crash’ . in casino gambling you have to abide
by certain rule and regulations, violation of which
could lead to a fine. Also you are obliged to pay a tip
in a casino and you have to tolerate the smokers or the
drunkards present around you.
But as the saying goes ‘ every coin has two sides’, one
decide if gambling is god or bed only after experiencing
it once.
