Gambling is a risky activity where
people play games of chance for money. Card games,
casino games, horse races, betting are some forms of
gambling. Gambling is an activity that is purely
dependent on one’s luck. Gambling is considered one of
the easiest of ways to make money and has been existent
in this world for as long as one can remember. Though
gambling started as a form of entertainment, gambling
today is a serious affair that has been known to either
add riches to a person or reduce him to a pauper.
Gambling affects by leading to addiction
Sometimes when a person
begins to gamble, he may find himself winning at a few
games. Gradually the urge to win and make more money can
turn into a compulsive habit and lead to gambling
addiction. A person is unable to control his urge to try
his luck at winning as many games as possible but one
does not remember that one cannot always win. A few
initial cases of beginner’s luck where one sees oneself
winning money over what one has bet can inspire more
gambling and that too with more money.
Gambling affects normal life
There are many gamblers
who find other activities of life not worth all the
trouble because they do not generate money. This results
in gambling houses being continuously occupied with such
persons. Their normal life is disturbed as the only
thought that is on their minds is to gamble and win.
They are not interested in earning money with a job or
business. This affects their lives as well as those of
their family and friends. Such people may not always win
and this could lead them to become unstable financially,
mentally as well as socially.
Gambling affects control over money
Wealth is not something
one can always be assured of, but wealth can be
inherited, earned or saved to make more wealth. This is
definitely not the case for gamblers. They prefer to
risk money, even by borrowing it from others, and
consider luck as the only factor that can bring them
more wealth. This affects them financially as they do
not have any control over money and are easily among
those people in the world who are constantly borrowing
from family and friends and who are always carrying the
burden of debts and payments.
