Why Gambling Should

In United States history, gambling
has played a major role in the history, yes good and
bad, of this great nation. During the late 1800s when
the Wild West was still a frontier for the people to
find themselves, people would gather at saloons to play
poker. In the 1920s, during Prohibition, speakeasies
carried these same poker games. Gambling is part of our
history, a part of who we are. It has only provided
entertainment for the simple folk, but it has also given
people the money that they may or may not have been able
to obtain because of their background or the environment
in which they grew up. Gambling isn’t just the lottery
though. Most people probably haven’t thought about it,
but it may be dare to say that the stock market, the
backbone of the U.S economy is all about gambling,
playing the odds and such. All retirement plans are
always based on the stock market and certain long-term
investments.
Adverse effect of gambling
It is said that gambling
can ruin the life a person involving themselves in the
practice .Anything can be turned into an addiction and
ruin someone life; video games, television, the
computer, sports and eating. All of these potential
addictions can be turned into something that they
weren’t initially intended to do but can’t even survive
with out it. .Gambling can be abused to the point where
it controls someone’s life, but should we penalize those
who can control themselves and enjoy gambling for what
it is, an activity to save ones life.
Suggestions: effects
Those who always view
gambling as
that bum at the poker table in some Hurrahs casino, with
a scotch on the rocks in front of him and his last $600
riding on this one hand don’t really get it the adverse
affect of it . On Friday and Saturday nights, people are
gathering in basements throughout the nation, setting up
the poker table and playing one of America’s most fabled
pastimes. This famous portrait, Dogs Playing Poker,
combines staffs best friend and mans most favorite game.
They all forget that they are playing with their
fortune.
