Psychology of Gamblers
What is the psychology when the gambler goes to gamble?
The gamblers have a different psychology than the normal
person. The gamblers are sometimes impulsive and also
show deviant behavior at times especially when they
start losing. Casual gamblers may not be more impetuous
than non-gamblers in discounting the value of a delayed
reward in favor of a smaller amount of cash on hand. But
gamblers take more chances likely than non-gamblers on a
possible higher payoff in its place of taking a smaller
guaranteed reward. There are two general views on what
gambling affects to the psychology of human beings: One,
that gambling is a form of deviant behavior of the human
beings and the other is that gambling is an extension of
normal behavior.
Adverse effects of the gambling on the psychology of the
people:
Many psychologists have admitted that gambling is
abnormal or detrimental to ones self interest and also
to one’s psychology. The field of gambling research has
advanced speedily in recent years with the
advancement of the research showing the
complication of this public health concern. As to their
definition of gambling, there is a difficulty in
pinpointing what they consider it to be - Whether it is
as conventionally defined, or, whether it is what they
consider to be unreasonable risk taking. Their
differentiation between reasonable and unreasonable is
based on the
psychology that the work is productive or not. The
gambling is not used as the leisure activity but now it
is used as the means of easy money. Sometimes the
gambling can lead to addiction and that is very harmful
to the psychological heath of the gamblers. These are
not the only effect the gamblers also show different
behavioral pattern than normal man. Sometimes the
gambling encourages a person to even commit crimes.
What is the reason of this psychological problem and the
analysis?
Psychologists and behavioral scientists have found some
interesting research method about the methods of
clinically diagnosing gamblers. There is a need of
psychological reformation of the gamblers. In this
reformation the gamblers are motivated to not to gamble
and sometimes the drugs are also used for this
reformation. The compulsive gambling must not be looked
as a psychological disorder but as the natural extension
of the human behavior. The gamblers must play it for fun
and occasionally and it won’t create any problems to the
gambler in any way whatsoever.
