Setting up a gaming hall
To start up a gambling hall is stated as pain in the
butt by some gambling hall owners. A building or a
portion of it cannot be rented to any other person or
organization for the purpose of conducting lawful
gambling in the form of pull-tabs, tip board, raffles,
and/or paddle wheels without first obtaining a license.
No person, being the owner, manager or in control of any
building can do so. But there are some exceptions. If
the lawful gambling is to be conducted in the building
or portion for twelve or fewer days in any calendar year
no license is required in that case. Ordinance shall
establish the annual license fee for a gambling hall.
The appropriate officials from the department of fire
and safety services shall inspect the building. This
should be done prior to the issuance of the license. The
inspection of the division of housing and building code
enforcement, and the division of public health is also
done. There should be norm of minimum distance followed
by licensed gambling halls. A minimum distance of two
miles is required between the gambling hall and other
buildings.
