Casino Style

by Jerry "Jet" Whittaker

March 12, 2006

Here is given the masses of part-time and home players an insight into the style how the big boys play the wonderful game of poker. This will be an eye-opener and this will also lead to many a discussion about the various styles of playing poker and particularly, will answer the question of which one is best? Is it the strategy of “let’s get some chips quick” with a very real possibility of not making the first break? Or, the strategy of “I refuse to get busted” of play, that would probably give you more of a chance of progressing to the late stages?

Which styles work?
Everyone has their own point of view as far as casinos styles are concerned. But which style is the right one? In fact, all styles work and all styles fail. Why so? That’s because whatever works one day may fail the next day. And what is the answer? Or is there actually an answer? Beginning to think about this is by going over in the mind about some of the major victories of the last couple of years. There may not be a found answer to it, but here is shed some light as to what it takes to win a tournament.

The various styles of poker:
This is more of an insight into how each tournament requires a different approach in order to achieve the result. You should choose to include both Limit and No Limit Holdem styles. Through looking at these styles in depth it may be concluded that a poker player will need to use varied styles play at different stages during an event. This includes both a steady and calculated play to protect the stack as well taking the bull by the horn and trying to make something happen when the cards have other ideas. After all, it’s not very often when the cards alone can guide you to that precious first place. When that does happen, poker is quite easy. But as we know, if we want to become regular tournament winners, we need to find that something special in the poker playing.

So till the next time follow the right styles of poker playing, play well, get lucky and enjoy life!
