The state
Legislature might be soon bringing up the issue of
casino-style gambling at Underground Atlanta which has
been around for year. Addition of 6,000 new jobs and
more than $300 million a year would be brought by two
casinos in Fulton County. Atlanta city would explode
with casino gambling by the new innovation in a positive
way. The city needs to drive growth towards Downtown
Atlanta. The common perception of people is that, ‘we
could revitalize Atlantic City, If we could get
gambling.” And it does bring a lot of people but beyond
the casinos, it’s abysmal. Even though gambling will be
bringing some kind of relief. Although, casinos are
popular as you can have folks going on tour so other
sectors also come into play through the tourism. Every
one is going for it as they believe it will be regulated
and can generate some revenue. Atlanta city will require
a constitutional amendment for gambling to be allowed at
Underground. The state Legislature would have to pass it
with a two-third majority, in order for amendment to be
approved. Atlanta
has a significant economic impact on the state and the
surrounding region.
Atlanta city
Atlanta is the capital of and largest city in the US
state of Georgia. The city has a population of
approximately 425,000 and the Atlanta Metropolitan area
totaled 4,708,297. It is the ninth-largest metropolitan
area in the US and the 41st-largest city proper. The
cities worldwide experiencing rapid urban sprawl
population growth and commercial development can
arguably hold Atlanta a poster-child. Hence, Atlanta is
a common case study for college students those
interested in studying Urban Geography around the globe.
Atlanta’s nickname is ‘the phoenix city’ which relates
to its rise after the Civil War. Including its seal and
flag, the phoenix appears in many of Atlanta's symbols.
The former mayor of Atlanta called it the city too busy
to hate. New York of the south is another name given to
it. It is one of the most prosperous cities in the
United States. Atlanta is often referred to as the
unofficial "capital of the South." Atlanta city is also
an especially important cultural and economic center for
African Americans. It has not had a non-black mayor for
over 30 years. Nearly all Fire Chiefs, Police Chiefs,
and other government officials have been
African-American in recent decades
Conclusion
Although
there is no full fledging gambling in Atlanta, like Las
Vegas, but there is a demand of starting an Underground
casino which should be well regulated and will generate
revenue. The state legislature is about to pass the
amendment to legalize the gambling.
