Gambling Research

Research will significantly contribute to developing health approach for
gambling as gambling causes they do need to bet more money frequently
restlessness when attempting to stop and loss of control manifested by
continuation of the gambling behavior in spite of mounting, serious, negative
consequences and problem gambling can result in financial ruin, legal problems,
loss of career and family, or even suicide and these effects the family members,
children, close friends, your job and also ruins your life.
Research centres on gambling:
The Center for Gambling Studies in New Zealand, University of Auckland, had some
2006 research projects on the Ministry of Health funded project that host
responsibility for gambling venues in New Zealand and the final report provides
a comprehensive review and summary of those issues relevant to host
responsibility both international and local. It was developed and
recommendations regarding the further development of host responsibility
strategies in New Zealand were made including the need for dissemination and
further research to enable the establishment of best practice exemplars,
guidelines, training, implementation and evaluation processes. While another
project is CGS that was commissioned by the Problem Gambling Foundation in order
to develop a community indicators model to assess, monitor and evaluate the
impact of gambling opportunities on communities.
School Of Public Health, University of La Trobe are working on a major study of
‘Risk and protective factors for problem gambling’ to figure out how to avoid
the problem before it occurs and to build on strengths to minimize harm and
recover from the effects and underlying problem.
Ontario Problem Gambling Research Centre where the Ontario Government dedicated
2% of the gross revenue from slot operations at the province's charity casinos
and racetracks to a Problem Gambling Strategy. The strategy funds three key
components are prevention programs, treatment services delivered at 45
designated agencies across Ontario and services provided through funded agencies
and research funded through the Ontario Problem
Gambling Research Centre.
The Problem Gambling resources Website was formed with the goal of maximizing
resources and streamlining information within the problem gambling world, giving
special emphasis on information for workforce development and also helps people
stop gambling. It has maintained by The Problem Gambling Foundation of New
Zealand and the Foundation is committed to health promotion that contributes to
more responsible gambling through community education and development, and
health protection that contributes to more responsible gambling through the
development of regulations and standards.
