Sport gambling
addiction:
Sport gambling in its
basic core is a fun and harmless way to increase the
interest and enjoyment of sports action. The fact is for
certain people gambling can become addictive in later
stage. As casino and sports gambling expands through
both Internet gambling websites and increasingly
favorable legislation for on site gambling, new outlets
for individuals to develop gambling addictions have
developed. The experience of a big win leaves a sport
gambler with an irresistible confidence that his or her
winning will continue. This leads to increased thrill
and usually, increased the amounts of the gambler’s
bets. The loosing phase is characterized as gambler’s
bragging about wins that he or she never had, beginning
to gamble alone, thinking about gambling more often and
borrowing money with which to bet.
Result of addiction:
Lying to family and friends becomes routine and the
gambler becomes more short-tempered, restless and
withdrawn. An important element of this phase is the
concept of chasing a loss, which basically means the
feeling that a gambler must return to the game as soon
as possible to win back the losses. During devastating
phase, there is a massive increase in the amount of time
a person spends in sport gambling. As a reaction to the
breakdown of the life, the gambler experiences guilt,
the blaming of others and the isolation of friends and
family. A feeling of hopelessness overcomes the gambler
and is often manifested in desperate thoughts, arrest,
divorce, substance abuse or an disturbing breakdown
The impact of
gambling addiction:
As with adults, youth
sport gambling
addiction can negatively impact every aspect of
life. It affects from learning and school performance,
to mental and physical health. It can lead to criminal
and other anti-social behavior as well. Studies have
established that some young problem gamblers are also
fighting alcohol and drug addictions. The casino is an
exciting place to visit in. Players visit the casino for
different reasons. Some take the time to study the
skills desirable to play the games with the primary goal
of winning money. The bulk of players visit the casino
for entertainment. Playing the games is a pleasant
experience and the voracity of winning money adds to the
player's excitement. For some this feeling can be
seductive and appealing and a minority of players gives
way to the darker side of sport gambling, addiction.
