interventions are used in the treatment of problem
gambling. In the gambling treatment program, counseling
for the family members and partners of problem gamblers
is also offered. At some places and some welfare
organizations, offer the program free of cost and there

Free assistance, individual, one-on-one therapy and a
time-limited program. Also there is supportive
counseling for gambling-related problems. This is not

sessions are also offered. Following the assessment,
treatment consists of mainly four components:
-
Education about gambling that
is presenting of the facts about gambling and
discussion about why it is impossible to win in the
long run. This is significant information that can
help break the gambling cycle.
-
Changing the way one thinks
about gambling teaching the patient strategies to
help him/her to start thinking as a 'non-gambler'
again.
-
Problem solving skills

problems as well as more general difficulties.
-
Relapse prevention - teaching the skills needed to
avoid returning to gambling once it has been
stopped.
If you or someone you

that gambling treatment is very important. Not just any
treatment but finding the right treatment program
involves careful consideration of such things as the

or your loved one's needs and problems.
