About online
gambling:
Online gambling is the
general term used for gambling in various sporting
events through the Internet. The use of Internet has
revolutionized the concept of gambling and betting
online. Online sport gambling covers a wide range of
gambling options including online poker, online casinos
and online bingo etc. However the concept of online
gambling in sports is a little different from these. The
main aspects of online sports gambling are the
bookmakers, betting exchanges and the fixed odd
gambling.
Online gambling and
bookmakers:
The bookmakers are also
known by the name of bookies or turf accountants.
Basically a bookmaker can be an organization or an
individual that takes the bets form the bettors through
the Internet and pay the winnings depending upon the
nature of the bets. Book making is illegal in the United
States with only Nevada as the exception where it is
legalized and regulated by law. In other parts of the
world like the United Kingdom it was both regulated and
illegal at the same time. Some countries like Singapore
and Canada has only legal bookmakers that are state
owned and operated.
Types of sports
gambling available on the Internet:
In the Internet thousands of bookmakers
accept wagers on sporting events around the world. The
earnings of the bookmaker depend on the commission that
is being regarded as the money kept in risk s less than
the size of the money of the bet placed. Some of the
most popular sporting events in America like football;
basketball, ruby, baseball, hockey, boxing and soccer
are included for placing bets and wagering using the
Internet. On these events the bookmakers generally offer
two types of bets that are called straight up or money
line bet and a point spread wager. Bookmakers in the
United States generally bet generally use money lines,
which are quoted in terms of the amount required to win
$100 on a favorite, or the amount paid for a $100 bet on
an underdog. Another very common type of
sport gambling
available for popular sporting events involves
predicting the combined total score between the
competing teams in a game and such wagers are known as
totals or over/unders.
