Colorado Tribe Plans Two New CasinosAs reported by the Durango Herald: "The Southern Ute Indian Tribe soon may double-down on gaming in Southwest Colorado by opening two new casinos within reservation boundaries.
"The tribe may build a casino north of Ignacio on Colorado Highway 172, said Don Burmania, communications director for the state Division of Gaming. "The complex would be larger than the tribal-owned Sky Ute Lodge & Casino in Ignacio, which opened in September 1993 and features slot machines, blackjack and poker tables, a bingo hall, hotel rooms, two restaurants, a conference center and an arena that hosts concerts and boxing matches. " Also under consideration is a slot parlor near Lake Capote, just east of Chimney Rock, along U.S. Highway 160. "At an Oct. 3 meeting between tribal gaming officials and representatives from the Colorado Division of Gaming, the tribe signaled its intention to expand its gambling operations in the area, Burmania said…"
