Offshore Casino – No More Risky than the Local 7 Eleven

By Jerry Whittaker

Offshore casino gambling represents the lion’s share of online casino gambling with most of the big name operators located in the Caribbean, Malta, Gibraltar and European locations such as Switzerland and Cyprus. This is par for the course and should not be any cause for concern when playing these casinos. However, when disputes do arise it can be difficult to resolve them due to the location of offshore casinos.

The tagline on the frontpage of the Offshore Gaming Association (OSGA) website reads “What good is winning if you don’t get paid”. This must be the recurring nightmare of most online casino fans. The thrill of a big win followed closely by the crushing disappointment of a disputed or even delayed payout.

This doesn’t often happen but disputes are lodged from time to time and this is where membership of an association such as OSGA can help immensely in facilitating a speedy resolution to any problem that may arise. In addition OSGA offers watch and avoid blacklists that allow players to steer clear of casinos with borderline reputations.

Online casinos depend as much on their good name as any other industry and this is particularly important when one considers the ease of dissemination of information within the online environment. A simple 5 minute search can turn up masses of dirt (or praise) and most players are acutely aware of this and toe the line accordingly.

However, there are those that don’t and if you are unfortunate enough to fall foul of one of the Long John Silver clan then you may need to enlist the services of bodies such as OSGA. Either way, prevention is normally better than an attempt at a cure so always try and exercise as much conscientious consumerism when considering offshore casinos as you possibly can.

When moving to another operator or starting out for the first time consult watchdog resources such as OSGA or the host of online gaming forums that serve the same purpose and abound with advice, warnings and recommendations that can make the process of sorting the wheat from the chaff and easy one.

One thing that one should, however, try and remember is the fact that absolutely no service provider will have NO complaints levelled against them. It is impossible to please all the people all the time and every provider will butt heads with disgruntled clients from time to time. The trick is to look for trends in the complaints.

It is generally true that large amounts of smoke are the result of a vigorous fire and several complaints levelled at a casino for one particular thing should be a big red flag. Offshore casino play need not be any more risky than visiting your local 7 Eleven and you can rest assured that should you encounter problems there are effective avenues of recourse.
