As reported by the Wembley and Kingsbury Times: "Plans to build a super
casino and city academy school in Wembley appear dead in the water as a new
administration takes charge of the borough. "A Liberal Democrat-Conservative
coalition took charge of Brent at Monday night's council meeting, and
promised to withdraw both applications in its policy programme for 2006 to
2010. "Council officers have been preparing to carry out a public
consultation on a super casino which would cost up to £25,000. But Brent
Council's new leader, Paul Lorber, wants the application made to central
government withdrawn immediately, stopping the consultation from going
ahead."
