Harrah's Operating Company, Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Harrah's
Entertainment, Inc. (NYSE:HET - News) was a major sponsor of the Latino
Issues Convention and Exposition, held May 26 and 27 in Edison, N.J.
Harrah's served as overall corporate underwriter of the event for the second
year. More than 6,000 New York and New Jersey residents attended the event,
which included a job fair, college fair, workshops on issues of importance
to the Latino public, and a luncheon featuring keynote speeches by Sen. Bob
Menendez (D-N.J.), New Jersey Attorney General Zulima Farber, and New Jersey
Assembly Speaker Pro-Tem Wilfredo Caraballo.
The convention was organized by The Latino Institute, Inc., a non-profit
organization focused on connecting the Latino community to the educational,
cultural, governmental, social and economic institutions of society.
"We are pleased to work with our friends in the Latino community to make
this important event a reality," said Carlos Tolosa, president of Harrah's
Eastern Division. "Over the years Harrah's has grown and thrived in New
Jersey, and we are committed to sharing that success with this community.
Helping local Latinos build successful careers is a cause we are privileged
to support."
