When the gates open at Churchill Downs it will be Brother Derek that is
favored to charge to the finish line according to odds makers at
sportsbook.com, the world's largest online sportsbook and casino. But
Brother Derek will have an admirable challenger in Lawyer Ron, listed at
9-2. The three year old colt is on a winning streak leading up to the
Tournament of Roses, taking the top prize at six races beginning with
Allowance at Louisiana Downs and most recently, the Arkansas Derby. Brother
Derek's mount Alex Solis will be looking to prove odds makers right, having
placed second at the Derby three out of his four years as a jockey at the
premier race.
"Whether you're a fan of horse racing or not, the Kentucky Derby is the one
horse race that everybody bets on," said Alex Czajkowski, Marketing
Director, Sportsbook.com.
Sportsbook.com has posted odds on whether the eventual Kentucky Derby winner
will go on to take the Preakness Stakes or the Belmont Stakes. The steep
odds against seeing Triple Crown winner are in response to the 27 year
drought since the last time the feat was accomplished, when Affirmed ran to
victory in 1978.
Sportsbook.com is also offering odds of whether the winning saddle cloth
number will be odd or even, both listed at -115.
