As reported by the (Cleveland) Plain Dealer: "Radio host Bruce Drennan's
gravelly voice was a barely audible whisper Tuesday when he pleaded guilty
in U.S. District Court to not paying taxes on his gambling winnings. "The
longtime broadcaster on Cleveland sports radio stations will probably serve
five months in prison and five months of house arrest under a plea deal
worked out with federal prosecutors. "...Drennan admitted that from 2000 to
2004, he bet between $14,000 and $37,000 daily on baseball games. He pleaded
guilty to two counts of filing false income tax returns, because he did not
declare his winnings. "He was put on leave from WKNR in 2004 after FBI and
IRS agents raided his Strongsville home. Investigators believed Drennan ran
a large bookmaking operation with two other men. "Albert Giuliani, Drennan's
lawyer, said his client never ran a bookmaking operation..."
