Orbis's OpenBet software platform is a complete gambling solution that enables customers to bet on all channels and all products from a single account, all controlled through a single back-office. Customers can place bets on a variety of products - a sportsbook, on-demand, scheduled and virtual games, P2P exchanges, lotteries or pari-mutuel pools - over almost any channel, including the web, mobile devices, retail outlets, call centers and interactive digital television, all from a single log-in.
"Under the agreement, Orbis will deploy a new sports betting site, call center application and fixed odds games, using its single account back- office solution.
"The Tote is one of the largest bookmakers in the UK, operating over 540 shops, and with a major presence on each of the 59 racecourses in Britain. The Tote offers multi-channel betting services, including Internet and telephone betting for global sports events and is the only pool betting operation on horse racing in Britain.
"Orbis further announced today that it will provide privately-owned Australian bookmaker Centrebe with the OpenBet platform, and deploy Centrebe's new sportsbook system and associated website. The new site will replace Centrebe's existing sports betting systems that were developed in-house.
"No value was disclosed for either of the agreements.
"NDS is part of the News Corp. (NYSE: NWS; ASX: NCP) group, controlled by media tycoon Rupert Murdoch. NDS, which has a research and development center in Israel, acquired UK-based Orbis in December, 2000.
